STOP THE COMPARISON GAME

I have recently talked about not comparing yourself to others on Instagram, but one trap we often fall into is comparing our current self to our old self.

Meaning we are frequently trying to get back to the “pre-pregnancy body’ or the way we looked on our wedding day or whatever you are longing for. Yet we never seem to think about the fact that our lives and circumstances are much different now than they likely were at that time. That body we crave to have from the past likely got more sleep, had less stress, and was just younger than it is now.

So make sure you are not putting unreasonable expectations on yourself. Things are much different for me at age 40 than they were at age 25 before kids and marriage. Don’t compare yourself to the old you. Set new attainable goals and understand that our bodies change and that’s OK. We need to work with out current situations and do the best we can. Push yourself, but don’t beat yourself up if you aren’t at that old body.

You work hard enough and maybe you’ll just surpass that old body goal?! The sky is the limit and don’t sell yourself short.
