Reverse Dieting

Is it time to reverse diet? Have you been dieting or restricting food as long as you can remember? Are you always fatigued? Not sleeping well? Irritable or anxious many days? Not making any progress with weight training? It is more than likely time to reverse diet (bring calories UP). Give your body a break so you can respond better to fat loss in future. The longer you are dieting the less likely you will respond. The body is always trying to figure out how to adapt to the calorie level you give it. Eventually it will lower energy expenditure to meet your calorie intake. Meaning no more fat loss.

Still not convinced if this is for you? Get a rough idea of what your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) should be by googling a calculator and entering your stats. Track your calories for 1 week. Must track it all!! If your daily average calorie intake falls way below your estimated TDEE and you are “stuck”-“plateaued”-“stalled out” with your physique goals then it’s time. I preach this a lot and hope those of you who have followed me for awhile understand....but you cannot live indefinitely at deficit calories or in a permanent diet phase. That WILL cause havoc on your body.

Live life in maintenance. Give your body a break...for awhile not just a couple weeks. And maybe try deficit down the road.

With a proper reverse diet, weight gain can be kept very minimal, even possible to maintain what have now. Would you rather maintain your weight at 1500 or 2000 calories?? That’s a no brainer for me. There is life outside of constant restriction and that is where most of your days should be spent. You know I’ll never stop talking about topic!! ❤️SC
