DIET & EATING OUT
I wish I could say I like to cook. I am a busy mom and I work pretty much 2 jobs at this point with more than full time hours. I need my life to be as stress free as possible so we eat take out meals a lot. I’m not super proud of it, but we also own a local restaurant so I like to call it supporting other small businesses 🙃
Anyways. I feel like I’m a testament to proving you can eat take out/fast food and can still make healthy choices and maintain a fit physique
This will vary place to place, but when I make choices when eating out my biggest focus is to order protein and veggies. If you aim for this you really can’t go wrong. Make sure to eliminate as many unnecessary fats like butter topping, cheeses, sour creams, regular salad dressings if you are eating low fat. Fried food is a No-no. That will likely put you way over on fat and likely carbs if breaded. I usually avoid white flour bread because it is high in carbs and provides little fill up. I would prefer to eat more whole grain carbs that fill me up longer
I started eliminating fatty add ons like cheese, butter, mayo from my meals and what I realized that it still tastes good. We think we need these things because we’ve just always ordered them this way and then come to find out the burger tastes equally as good without a piece of cheese on it. Restaurants are famous for adding all sorts of sauces to their sandwiches so make sure you hold those if you don’t know what is in them
I use my own salad dressings when I do take out but if you can’t you must choose the low-cal/fat option they have otherwise you may as well be eating French fries. Regular salad dressings are full of carbs and fat
If you are tracking macros try and check your choices before you order and eat. And if you are in deficit make sure to allow a little room at end of night for possible fat/oils not considered in cooking process. Try and search for your restaurant, but if not in database then you must find something similar and guesstimate. I do this all the time and it has never affected my progress. Something is better than nothing. I could go on and on about this topic but this is a start and I hope it helps. ❤️SC
