Cheat Meals

I often get asked how I eat pizza all the time? I don’t eat it all the time, but I do allow myself 1-2 untracked indulge meals a week. It hasn’t always been like this. I have put in the work and conditioned my body AND mind to handle this

When I was 40lbs heavier and made a pact with myself to lose fat I was not going off plan very often. I’m not going to say never, but it took a special event to do so. You can still enjoy treats in deficit, but I made sure they fit my macros. You quickly realize that junk food is great going in, but it kills the macros quick and provides short term fill up. So you naturally start to shift your thinking....I want to stay on track and I want to make the most of what macros I have. Your diet then follows suit...eating more lean protein, whole grains, and veggies

I have been in maintenance for about 1.5yrs. With time I have learned to trust the process and my body and have experimented more with not tracking, eating intuitively, more indulge meals and less cardio. But keep in mind the way I do this is by keeping with the plan the rest of the time. So I may not be tracking, but I know what type of foods (and portion sizes) I need to eat to stay on track because I’ve been doing this so long. I still follow macros most days to make sure I’m getting enough food and on track

My high carb days or refeeds consist of me having untracked meals like pizza. I allow myself to eat as much as I want until I’m full. I don’t starve myself that day to accommodate fun food, but most of my “normal” meals are pretty macro friendly. So it will be a higher calorie day than my normal but nothing off the charts. My other macros during the week are programmed to have a couple days where I go over. So right now while I’m not lifting I’m eating around 1900 calories most days and then my splurge days are probably more around 22/2300. I don’t track these meals at this point because I don’t care to see the numbers. It doesn’t matter and it is things like this that make this a long term lifestyle for me. You may not be at this stage, but the goal should be to get to a place where you can see yourself doing this long term. That is the point right? 😘SC
